Several bass fishing tournaments took place over the Friday, October 19, 2012 weekend. Two of the tournaments were FLW Walmart Bass Fishing League regional events. The anglers were competing for a great prize purse, bragging rights and a shot at competing in the next Walmart Bass Fishing League All-American. Here's a brief look at some of the results:
Red River Results
Louisiana's Red River played host to one of the league's regional tournaments over the weekend. More than 100 hopeful anglers pinned their fortunes on the famed river's fish population. In the end, the top angler turned out to be Pete Lowe of Woodworth, Louisiana. Over the course of three days, Lowe was able to finesse 40 pounds, 2 ounces worth of Red River bass into his boat. His talents earned him a brand new Chevy 1500 Silverado and a Ranger Boat. The tournament's remaining top five boater spots were awarded to Brooke Morrison (LA), Craig Frilot (LA), Jason Cordell (MS) and Eric Poindexter (OK).
The tournament's top co-angler was Will Terrell of Memphis, Tennessee. Terrell walked away with a new Ranger Boat Z518 after catching 27 pounds, 5 ounces worth of fish. Other co-anglers to finish in the tournament's top five were Jonathan Primeaux (LA), William Dowden (LA), William Scott (OK) and Tito Abiseid (AR).
Pickwick Lake Results
Alabama's Pickwick Lake was also the site of a regional tournament this past weekend. More than 120 anglers showed up to participate in the illustrious event. The anglers battled it out for three days. The tournament eventually ended with a nail-biter finish on Saturday afternoon. The tournament's top boater spot was captured by angler J.R. Henard of Rogersville, Tennessee. Henard managed to catch 47 pounds, 3 ounces worth of fish. The nail-biting portion of the event kicked in when it came to deciding the tournament's remaining top five boater spots.
Tennessee angler Lloyd Pickett Junior found himself in 2nd place after wheedling 42 pounds, 13 ounces worth of fish into his boat. His accomplishment left him $1,500 richer. Finishing close behind Lloyd Pickett Junior were anglers David Williams (NC), Daniel Langton (IN) and David J. Wright (NC).
The tournament's top five co-angler spots were earned by Bryan Rupe (KY), Daniel Buswell (GA), Tim Cales (WV), James Lee (NC) and Kevin Hughes (VA). Out of the five, Rupe received the best prize of them all. It was a brand new Ranger Boat Z518 complete with a new motor.
