The Walmart BFL is expected to host a bass fishing tournament on Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Mount Clemens, Michigan. The fishing tournament is geared towards weekend fishermen and sports a collective prize purse in excess of $6,000. Here are a few more details:
BFL Tournament Details
The Walmart BFL's tournament event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 28, 2012, from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the Lake Saint Clair Metropark located on Metro Parkway. During the fishing tournament, anglers will be restricted to a five fish catch limit. In addition, all species of bass caught during the tournament event must be a minimum of 14 inches in length. Tournament pre-registration is required.
Registration and Licensing Information
A registration session is slated to take place on Friday, July 27, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., at the Chesterfield Walmart located on Market Place Boulevard. A 6:30 p.m. obligatory meeting is expected to follow at the same location. Fishermen may anticipate paying $100 to $200 in entry fees at the time of sign-up. Fishing licenses and permits are additional.
Anglers fishing in the tournament will want to invest in a Michigan fishing license, a Canadian fishing license and a Walpole Island fishing license. The licenses may be purchased through designated licensing agents including the Lakeside Fishing Shop located on Jefferson Street in St. Clair Shores.
About the Venue
The Lake Saint Clair Metropark is a well maintained and popular park that features a group of marinas, ample boat ramps and a concession stand where visitors may grab a quick bite to eat. Boat slip rentals may be found at the Sundog Marina, the Island Cove Marina, McRay Harbor, the Belle Maer Harbor and the Beacon Cove Marina. Boat fuel, fishing supplies and pump-out services are also readily available.
Lake Saint Clair Fishing Forecast
Since the beginning of July 2012, daytime air temperatures in Mount Clemens have been in the 80s and 90s (Fahrenheit) with evening air temperatures dipping down into the 60s and 70s (Fahrenheit). As of Thursday, July 12, 2012, the surface water temperature at Lake Saint Clair was 73.6 degrees Fahrenheit. That temperature trend is expected to continue throughout the month. A new moon is also expected to occur on Thursday, July 19, 2012.
The bass are in a post spawn routine. Therefore, anglers may want to consider targeting the deeper areas of the lake's main shipping channel with deep diving crankbaits.
