Walmart BFL Heads to Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, August 25, 2012

Are you ready to wet your lines in search of a big bass? I hope so because there is another bass fishing tournament on the horizon. It's scheduled to take place along the Mississippi River in Wisconsin the weekend of Friday, August 24, 2012. The bass fishing tournament is geared towards recreational anglers and sports a collective prize purse of $11,000. Here are a few more details:

    Bass Fishing Tournament Basics

The fishing tournament is being organized by the Walmart Bass Fishing League. It is slated to take place on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Washington Street Ramp located in Prairie Du Chien. Participating anglers will be expected to launch their bass fishing boats at 6 a.m. Once the bass boats are launched, anglers will be allowed to fish along the Mississippi River proper in pools 9 through 11. Size and catch restrictions on all species of bass will be in place throughout the tournament. Weigh-in is anticipated to occur at 2 p.m. I should also note that Wisconsin fishing fans are welcome to watch both the launch and the weigh-in.

How to Register for the Bass Fishing Tournament

Bass anglers interested in fishing in the tournament will need to pre-register, remit an entry fee and attend a mandatory meeting. A valid fishing license is also required. Registration may be completed on Friday, August 24, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., at the Prairie Du Chien Walmart located on U.S. Highway 18. A 6:30 p.m. mandatory meeting is expected to follow.

Bass fishing tournament entry fees start at $100 for co-anglers and $200 for boaters. Because of the fishing tournament's location, participating anglers may opt to purchase a Wisconsin or an Iowa fishing license. Both fishing licenses may be purchased online. Wisconsin fishing licenses may also be purchased through the Prairie Du Chien Walmart.
