Waiver Wire Pickups for May 12th: A Fantasy Owner's Viewpoint

Looking for Some Punch in the Lineup? These Four Fantasy Baseball Players on Waivers Can Provide the Power You Need for Production

If you have a spot to fill in your lineup because an injury or underperforming starter, look to the waivers to find some hot-hitting fantasy baseball players. Here are a few to consider adding to your fantasy roster:

Brandon Inge (Third Base - Oakland Athletics)

Released by the Detroit Tigers on April 28th, the 35 year-old veteran Brandon Inge has been reinvigorated after signing with the Oakland Athletics. Since joining the A's on April 30th, Inge has tallied four home runs and 17 RBIs, including two grand slams over a three-day period. Inge is available in 96 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues, so if you need power and RBIs, Inge worth a look to fill a third base position.

Andy Dirks (Outfield - Detroit Tigers)

With 13 hits in his last six games, Andy Dirks has found his stride with the Detroit Tigers. Dirks (.381 BA, 3 HR,11 RBIs, 13 runs scored in 20 games) has become a regular starter in the outfield and has secured the second spot in the batting lineup for the Tigers. Dirks is available in 78 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues, but was owned in one percent only a few days ago, so pick him up before someone else steals him in your league.

Andres Torres (Outfield - New York Mets)

After a disappointing 2011 season with the San Francisco Giants, all is right again with centerfielder Andres Torres with his new team in New York. Since coming off the disabled list on April 30th, Torres has reached base in every game (and reached at least twice in his last six games) and is batting over .300 as the leadoff hitter. Hopefully Torres can return to his 2010 form (16 home runs and 26 stolen bases) and keep his average around .300 to benefit fantasy baseball owners. Torres is owned in only six percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues, so he's likely available in yours.

Josh Reddick (Outfield - Oakland Athletics)

Owned in 35 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues, Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick has been nothing short of impressive. On May 11th, Reddick crushed two home runs and knocked in five runs against the Detroit Tigers. Over the last two weeks, Reddick is batting .365 with six home runs, 14 runs scored, 15 RBIs and a stolen base. If you are in need of an outfielder, Reddick is a solid option in all leagues.
