Vlad Guerrero pursues return to baseball

Former major-league player Vladimir Guerrero wants to resume his baseball career at age 38 and would be agreeable to a minor-league deal, according to a report by Fox Sports.

Guerrero hasn't played since last June when he hit .358 with four homers for the Toronto Blue Jays' triple-A team in a brief 12-game stint. He asked to be called up to the majors and the Jays subsequently released him.

During the offseason, the former American League MVP played winter ball in his native Dominican Republic, hitting .188 in eight games.

In his last major-league season with Baltimore in 2011, Guerrero hit .290 with 13 homers and 63 RBI in 145 games.
