RICHMOND, Va. -- Senior guard Troy Daniels scored 29 points and grabbed seven rebounds, leading Virginia Commonwealth to an 81-65 victory over Fordham in an Atlantic 10 Conference game Saturday at the Stuart Siegel Center.
Daniels led three players who scored in double figures for Virginia Commonwealth (18-5, 6-2 Atlantic 10). Sophomore guard Treveon Graham had 15 points and eight rebounds. Junior forward Juvonte Reddic added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Bryan Smith scored 17 points to lead Fordham (6-16, 2-5). Freshman guard Mandell Thomas had 16 points and nine rebounds. Freshman guard Jermaine Myers scored 11 points. Freshman forward Ryan Rhoomes grabbed 12 rebounds.
The score was tied 25-25 with 6:56 remaining in the first half, but Graham scored eight points in 1:43, sparking an 11-0 run that gave Virginia Commonwealth a 36-25 lead with 4:17 left in the half.
Virginia Commonwealth led 38-33 at the break and extended its lead early in the second half, outscoring Fordham 15-4 in the first 5:15 to take a commanding 53-37 lead. The Rams led by as many as 22 points in the second half.
