RICHMOND, Va. -- Senior guard Troy Daniels scored a game-high 16 points to lead Virginia Commonwealth to a 73-54 victory over visiting Alabama on Saturday at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
Daniels led four players in double figures for the Rams (7-3), who shot 47.1 percent from the field to win their fourth consecutive game.
Freshman forward Devonta Pollard came off the bench to score 13 points for the Crimson Tide (6-3), which has lost three in a row.
The Rams opened the game with an 11-2 run and never looked back. They led 33-18 at the break despite shooting just 40 percent from the field in the opening half.
Alabama cut Virginia Commonwealth's lead to 35-24 on a 3-pointer by Trevor Lacey with 18 minutes remaining, but the Rams outscored the Crimson Tide 16-6 over the next 4:21 to increase their lead to 51-30 with 13:39 to play.
The Rams led by as many as 26 points midway through the second half before the Crimson Tide started to chip away. Alabama cut Virginia Commonwealth's lead to 15 but never got any closer.
