The Saints activated MLB Jonathan Vilma on Saturday, and he is expected to play against the Buccaneers on Sunday. To make room for Vilma on the active roster, the team cut WR Greg Camarillo.
Vilma has been on the physically unable to perform list and is appealing his season-long suspension from the league for his alleged role in the Saints' "Bountygate" scandal. The NFL announced on Friday that the appeals hearing for Vilma, Scott Fujita, Will Smith and Anthony Hargrove has been moved to Oct. 30, so Vilma also will be eligible to play Oct. 28 at Denver.
It's yet to be seen how the Saints will use Vilma, who was the team's starting middle linebacker before the club signed ex-Falcons MLB Curtis Lofton to fill the role. Vilma, who is recovering from offseason knee surgery, could move to the outside to get both players on the field at once.
It also was revealed that starting TE Jimmy Graham, who suffered a sprained ankle in the win over the Chargers in Week Five, did not travel to Tampa and will miss the game.
