NEW ORLEANS -- Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year at the NFL awards presentations Saturday night. Peterson suffered a major knee injury in December 2011. However, he bounced back to start the season and fall nine yards short of breaking NFL great Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record. The sixth-year back finished with 2,097 yards on 348 carries and helped the Vikings earn a playoff spot by beating the Green Bay Packers on the final day of the season.
