Vidal extends Juventus contract
Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal has extended his contract at the Scudetto holder until 2017.

The Chilean, 26, has been rumored to be on the verge of a new deal for weeks and Tuesday's confirmation - which adds a year to his former contract - also wards off clubs that may have been considering a bid in January's transfer window.

The statement from the Turin side's official website reads in part: "Juventus are pleased to announce that Arturo Vidal has today put pen to paper on an extended contract which keeps him with the club until 2017.

"Since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2011, the midfielder’s sensational performances have enabled him to become a firm fan favorite and he's provided the driving force behind back-to-back Scudetto and Supercoppa triumphs.

"Vidal’s influence on the side is clear for all to see. Across a total of 100 appearances in all competitions, he has struck on 32 occasions, becoming the most prolific player of Antonio Conte’s era."

Vidal was handed the Castagna d'Oro award on Monday, which is an annual honor to the best player in the previous season voted for by Bianconeri fans.
