Recommendation: Martinez has began running and is expected to be ready for spring training, but his subpar defensive abilities and the added risk of doing further damage to his knee will make him a full-time designated hitter in 2013. Though he sat out all of last season with a torn ACL, Martinez played 26 games at catcher in 2011, likely giving him eligibility at the position in most leagues this season. However, after this season, it appears he may only be listed at DH and perhaps first base, limiting his value in dynasty formats.
