Veterans Stand Up For Colin Kaepernick On Social Media With #VeteransForKaepernick Hashtag
Colin Kaepernick has been under harsh criticism since his decision to sit during the national anthem of the 49er’s pre-season game last Friday (Aug. 26), protesting the oppression of people of color in the United States.
Many thought it would be distasteful to veterans who have served the nation, but it turns out a bunch back his decision and don’t see any problem with him exercising his right. The hashtag #VeteransForKaepernick exploded on social media over the weekend. Check out some military member’s thoughts on the controversy below.

I don’t agree with all of his points, but I’ll fight to the death for his right to say it. #VeteransForKaepernick pic.twitter.com/0jeFlIv5RX

Black Lives Matter activist, Deray McKesson, summed up the controversy pretty well with this political cartoon involving Kaepernick and Donald Trump.

The 49er’s quarterback will continue to sit during the national anthem of each game until he sees societal changes taking place throughout the country.
