With two more goals from star striker Carlos Vela, Real Sociedad cruised to a 4-1 win over Rayo Vallecano Monday night in Spanish La Liga action.
In San Sebastian, Vela tallied 31 minutes in to open the scoring after a combination with Xabi Prieto and Ifran produced a loose ball in the box. Two minutes later, Vela was on the scoreboard again with a long range shot from outside of the area.
“The most important thing for us is team cohesion, not individual play, and today was a good match for us,” Vela told reporters after the match. “Playing at home always gives us an extra edge.”
The goals were the fourth and fifth of the young campaign for the Mexican, who scored 10 times last year to lead the team.
Real Sociedad moved to ninth place in the Spanish standings with 16 points.
