The Portland Timbers came back from a goal and a man down to draw 2-2 with the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Vancouver scored its first goal in three games when Camilo Sanvezzo struck in the 24th minute. Following a foul by Will Johnson outside the box, Camilo hit a free kick into the top right corner.
Five minutes into the second half, Will Johnson's shot hit the arm of Andy O'Brien and the referee awarded a penalty. Johnson rolled it past Brad Knighton for his fifth goal of the season.
The deadlock lasted barely two minutes. Camilo held up the ball under pressure in the box and laid off for Gershon Koffie, who curled a shot inside the top corner.
With a goal and assist, Camilo then got a Timbers player sent off. In a race on goal, Mamadou Danso tangled up with the Brazilian and earned a soft red card.
The numerical disadvantage didn't prevent Portland from equalizing. Jose Valencia scored his first MLS goal, plucking a Will Johnson chip out of the air, wriggling in the box and finishing sharply.
