The Colorado Rapids got two goals in the final 10 minutes to earn a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps, who finished the game with 10 men on the pitch.
It took over an hour for the first goal to come, but Darren Mattocks finally broke through for the home side in the 67th, sparking what ended up being a wild ending to what had been a somewhat chippy game.
In the 77th things turned sour for the home side when Matías Laba, hoping to get a foul call, reached out for the ball while on the ground. Already on a yellow, Laba was booked for a second time and sent for an early shower.
Two minutes later Colorado was level with the first of two classy goals from José Mari, who hit a simply stunning left-footed shot from an odd angle on the left that bent back in at the far post.
The second, taken with his right foot two minutes later, was a classy curler into the same part of the goal after a simple layoff at the top of the box.
Colorado hung on to claim all three points despite a late push from the under-manned Whitecaps.
