SHERBROOKE, Quebec (AP) -- Two-time Olympic gold medalist Sarah Vaillancourt has retired from the Canadian women's hockey team.
The 27-year-old forward won gold with the team in 2006 and 2010.
Vaillancourt had 45 goals and 53 assists in 107 career games with Canada. She played in six world championships and won gold in 2007.
She scored twice and had five assists in five games this month at the world hockey championship in Ottawa, where Canada lost 3-2 to the United States in the gold-medal game.
Vaillancourt returned to the national team after missing two years because of hip and hernia surgeries.
