SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Ty Greene scored 27 points, hitting 6 of 9 from beyond the arc, to lead University of South Carolina-Upstate to an 84-70 win over Lipscomb on Saturday.
Trailing most of the opening half, USC-Upstate (9-8, 2-2 Atlantic Sun Conference) took the lead on a 10-2 burst sparked by back-to-back 3-pointers from Torrey Craig and ShunQuez Stephens with 3:32 to go and carried a 39-35 advantage into the break.
The Spartans broke open the game early in the second half with a 10-3 run that included treys from Green and Fred Miller, building a lead that would hold down the stretch.
Craig contributed 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Miller added 11 points for the Spartans, who shot 61 percent from the field and sank 13 of their 24 shots from 3-point range.
Lipscomb (6-11, 1-5 A-Sun) was led by Malcolm Smith, who had 16 points and five rebounds.
