USA to host Germany in June friendly

It becomes personal for Jurgen Klinsmann this summer.

Klinsmann will guide the U.S. national team against his native country, Germany, in a friendly at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., on June 2. Klinsmann, who won the World Cup as a star striker on Germany's 1990 squad and coached Die Mannschaft from 2004-2006, will face the national team as an opponent for the first time.

The friendly, being dubbed the "Centennial Celebration Match" as U.S. Soccer commemorates 100 years of existence, is the first of two USA games that day. The women will face regional rival Canada at BMO Field in Toronto upon the conclusion of the men's game.

The match against Germany will come just days after the U.S. hosts Belgium in Cleveland on May 29. Both games precede an important stretch of three World Cup qualifying matches in June, with the Americans playing at Jamaica on June 7 before facing Panama in Seattle on June 11 and Honduras in Salt Lake City on June 18.
