Urijah Faber Isn't Done Yet, Books Next UFC Fight

Although retirement rumors have swirled around Urijah Faber after each of his last several bouts, the former WEC champion isn't ready to hang up his gloves just yet. In fact, he's booked his next fight.

Faber will square off with Brad Pickett at UFC on FOX 22 on Dec. 17 at the Golden 1 Center in his hometown of Sacramento, Calif. UFC officials announced the bout on Tuesday.

Faber (33-10) is just 1-3 in his last four bouts and coming off of back-to-back losses for the first time in his 13-year career. In true Faber fashion, however, he's maintained a position in the Top 10 spots of the bantamweight divisional rankings.

The 37-year-old “California Kid” has been taking his career fight by fight, but if he is considering retirement, Sacramento might be a good place to announce it. Even if that scenario is up for consideration, Faber will be focused on Pickett, who is a tough veteran fighter.

Like Faber, Pickett (25-12) has been through a rough patch recently, going just 1-4 in his five most recent fights. Even more so than Faber, the 38-year-old English fighter had been considering retirement before he defeated Francisco Rivera in London.

Unfortunately, his rebound was short-lived, having lost to Iuri Alcantara recently at UFC 204 in Manchester. So this is a bout that holds a tremendous amount of importance for the careers of both fighters.

Faber's teammate, Paige VanZant, headlines UFC on FOX 22. She will square off with former Invicta FC champion Michelle Waterson.
