Update, 11/30: Kanye West has been released from the hospital and returned home to his wife Kim Kardashian and two children, North and Saint, TMZ confirms. He left UCLA Medical Center under the care of Kardashian and his physician Dr. Michael Farzam, who made the 911 call when West was admitted, according to the news site.

The rapper was hospitalized for sleep deprivation on November 21st after acting erratically at his trainer's home. The behavior is believed to be a result of a "nervous breakdown" triggered by the anniversary of his mother's funeral earlier this month. Some sources stated he was also still reeling from the aftershocks of Kardashian's traumatizing armed robbery in October, which reportedly gave him "nightmares." His mother-in-law Kris Jenner said he was exhausted from his "grueling" Saint Pablo Tour, which he had cancelled before being hospitalized, and fashion design projects.

Now that the 39-year-old artist is home, sources say he might still need further "psychological and medical treatment," TMZ adds.

Original post, 11/21: Kanye West was "under observation" at a Los Angeles hospital late today, NBC reports. The news comes shortly after the rapper's reps confirmed he was cancelling the remaining 21 shows left in his Saint Pablo Tour without giving reason. The tour was meant to last until mid-December.

West was hospitalized for "his own health and safety" a close source told NBC. There was no criminal activity involved. The LAPD answered a "medical welfare" call at around 1:20 PM PST. It is unknown whether he is still in the hospital.

TMZ reports that West is under "psychiatric evaluation" at UCLA Medical Center. Law enforcement told the news site that he wasn't home when police responded to the call, but paramedics were able to transport the rapper via an ambulance. He reportedly did not want to go and had to be "restrained" while being transported.

Sources close to West said he was getting checked by the doctor for sleep deprivation when it was decided that he needed to be admitted to a hospital.

Update, 11/22 9:45 AM: TMZ adds that West was "acting erratically" at his trainer's house when the call was made. He had reportedly calmed down by the time the paramedics arrived. West was reluctant to go to the hospital, but his management and law enforcement convinced him to go. He was handcuffed to a gurney on the way to the hospital, a standard protocol, according to law enforcement.

Kim Kardashian West, who was expected to make her first public appearance since the robbery in New York last night, flew back to Los Angeles to be with her husband. She had flown on a private jet to NYC at 5 AM yesterday morning, but returned to L.A. after hearing the news.
