UNLV freshman Anthony Bennett officially declared for the 2013 NBA Draft. It was an announcement that had been expected since he scored in double digits in each of his first 17 career games and emerged as a likely lottery pick. "It's not the easiest decision I've made in my life but I'm pretty happy about it," said Bennett. "I won't be wearing a UNLV jersey anymore but I'll always be a Runnin' Rebel for life." Bennett led the team with 16.1 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game. Bennett said he made the decision about a week ago and hired Mike George as his agent. Bennett was accompanied Monday by UNLV coach Dave Rice. "We were in constant communication with NBA personnel," said Rice. "Anthony had come to us from Findlay Prep as a very good player and was leaving here with an opportunity to be a very, very high draft pick." Rice said junior forward Mike Moser is still exploring his options as well. He has until April 10 to apply, and must decided by April 16 whether to keep his name in the draft pool.
