Cung Le shocked Rich Franklin, stunning the former UFC middleweight champion with a first-round knockout at UFC Macao on Saturday.
Le caught Franklin with a counter punch that sent him down at 2:17 of the opening five-minute frame.
"That's the biggest fight of my life," Le said following the knockout win. "I don't know what to say. Lucky punch."
Franklin worked combinations near the beginning of the fight, and even landed more kicks than Le, who's typically know for his kicking style. Le continued to use counter punches, but none landed better than the one that ended the fight.
After Franklin threw a left lowkick, Le landed a right hand that landed flush on his opponent's chin. Franklin went collapsing to the floor. The referee stepped in to put a stop to the fight, as Franklin was obviously out cold.
"I have to go back and watch that on tape. I'm a little fuzzy right now," Franklin said when asked about the fight.
Le wins his second consecutive fight and is now 2-1 since coming to the UFC from Strikeforce, where he held the promotions middleweight title. Franklin, unable to comment about his UFC future due to being in a fuzzy state, said he has to go home and speak with his coaches before making an intelligent decision.
