The fourth venture on Fox for the Ultimate Fighting Championship ended with excitement. The next challenger for the UFC light heavyweight title was determined after Lyoto Machida defeated Ryan Bader in convincing fashion. UFC on Fox 4 also saw Mauricio Rua, Joe Lauzon and Mike Swick win their fights, but how did the biggest winners and losers react to their latest result. As usual, most fighters took to Twitter to express their admiration and respect for their opponents, as well as showing their appreciation to the fans.
Lyoto Machida defeated Ryan Bader via second round KO (1:32)
In a fight that I though Bader could win, Machida made it so he never had a chance. Machida picked up the most impressive victory of the night in the light heavyweight division, earning a shot at the world title.
Machida took to Twitter following his impressive win and said, "Obrigado Brasil! Thank you! pic.twitter.com/PAfI9QRN."
Following the tough defeat, Bader said, "Tough fight, props to Machida. I'm ok and I am gonna get back at it. Love my fans, family, camp and friends."
Joe Lauzon defeated Jamie Varner via third round submission (2:44)
This was a tough fight for both fighters, but Varner - a late replacement - seemed to gas early and couldn't avoid the submission from the tough Lauzon.
After the fight, Varner said, "Lost a tough one but I'm still very grateful to be here and have all of u in my life. @AZCombatSports @UFCONFOX @ufc @TheMMALAB."
Mike Swick defeated DaMarques Johnson via second round KO (1:20)
In his return to the Octagon, Swick picked up an incredibly exciting victory against the tough Johnson.
After the fight, Swick said, "I did it!!!! Believe!!! @UFConFox #UFConFOX http://instagr.am/p/N7akzaAlPr/."
As if press time, both fighters that competed in the main event (Mauricio Rua and Brandon Vera) were silent on Twitter, but I would assume Vera was proud of his performance and proud to quiet the critics, while Rua was likely thankful for the performance, but upset that he won't get a shot at the title.
