UFC on FOX 15 Results: Max Holloway Submits Cub Swanson After Dominating Him
Ninth-ranked featherweight Max Holloway raised some eyebrows on Saturday when he finished Cub Swanson at UFC on Fox 15 in New Jersey. Winning the fight wasn’t a surprising outcome, but the way he dominated the fifth-ranked 145-pound fighter was.
Holloway moved laterally and used his reach to keep Swanson on the outside throughout the fight. He pressed the pace and landed his right hand often.
Swanson tried to pick up his aggression in the second frame, but was unsuccessful. Holloway mixed up his attack with high and low kicks, punches and knees while targeting the body and head.
Swanson was unable to find his range. He was left with hoping a counter punch would find its home.

Holloway attacked the body throughout the fight, and it paid off in the final frame. He hurt Swanson with a knee to the body and followed up with a kick that forced Swanson to drop to a knee. Holloway swarmed in and landed a combination that stunned the Californian. He quickly applied a guillotine choke and squeezed. Swanson tried to fight his way out of the submission, but was forced to tap out.
“It feels great. It just feels great. I’ve been inside at the gym, in and out of the gym. I’m pretty much living in the gym. I’m just happy to all the hard work pay off,” said Holloway after the win.
With the win, the 23-year-old Hawaiian extended his winning streak to six consecutive fights.
