UFC on FOX 14 Weigh-in Results: Anthony Johnson's Weigh-in Issues Behind Him
Saturday's UFC on FOX 14 is expected to be the UFC's biggest fight card ever in Europe. The main event pits Swedish light heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson against American Anthony “Rumble” Johnson on Gustafsson's home turf in Stockholm.
Not only is this a big event because of the Swede fighting in front of an audience anticipated to be greater than 30,000, the winner of between Gustafsson and Johnson also earns a shot at current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
Despite Johnson's past troubles with his weight, neither he nor Gustafsson had any issues making weight on Friday. Johnson tipped the scale at 204 pounds, while Gustafsson weighed at 205 pounds.
“(Gustafsson) is an awesome ahlete. I don't doubt him. He's amazing,” said Johnson after stepping off the scale. “I'm proud to be here, put on an awesome performance for this crowd.”
Gustafsson was even more succinct, “He's a tough opponent. It's gonna be a great fight.”
The co-main event may not have a title shot on the line, but the middleweight match-up between former Strikeforce champions Gegard Mousasi and Dan Henderson, both of whom are struggling to remain relevant in the title picture.
Stepping into his UFC debut on just two weeks notice, preliminary fighter Paul Redmond was the only one to have issues making weight. He stepped on the scale at 149 pounds for his featherweight bout with Mirsad Bektic, although the bout is still expected to take place.
