UFC on FOX 11 Results: Yoel Romero Dominates Brad Tavares Towards Unanimous Decision

Yoel Romero defeated Brad Tavares by unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 11 in Orlando, Fla. on Saturday evening.

Romero secured a majority of his takedown, controlling the fight and earning the judges' unanimous decision with scores of 30-27 across the board.

Romero had the fight's first show of offense with a sequence of punches and a double-leg takedown. Later in the first round, he added a trip takedown that helped to maintain the early pace for the fight. The round finished out with Romero remaining largely in top position and working towards a kimura.

The fight's fifth takedown took place early in the second round, and it belonged to the owner of the previous four, Romero. The fight later returned to the feet, and Romero landed a significant elbow that cut Tavares' head open, leaving blood leaking down the Hawaiian fighter's face. Romero continued pressuring his opponent through the end of the round, stopping all efforts by Tavares to take him down.

The final round was much like the previous two, as Romero continued to overwhelm Tavares. The former Olympic wrestler slipped punches and added more takedowns to his efforts, securing the win to open the evening's opening main-card fight.

With the win, Romero improves to 8-1, 4-0 in the UFC.
