Munoz had a strong opening round, closing the distance and clinching with Barnatt, landing punches in close range. He scored a number of takedowns and effectively used ground and pound throughout the first five minutes.

Munoz kept the same approach in Round 2, but with less success in the takedowns. Both fighters appeared tired, not putting a lot of power behind their strikes, but Munoz landed a strong right hand towards the end of the frame.

The third round showed Munoz capture his second wind, throwing a higher volume of punches and looking for the finish. At moments, Barnatt ate combinations as Munoz closed the distance and secured the clinch. He would go on to put Barnatt on the ground and fight out the remaining time in top control.

Following the announcement of the decision, Munoz was given the microphone from post-fight interviewer Jon Anik and gave a farewell speech wherein he thanked fans, family and the UFC for all the support throughout his MMA career.

“I didn't accomplish what I wanted to do in my career,” he reflected, “but I've been able to impact many lives in a positive way.”

With that, Munoz took off his gloves and placed them at center Octagon, bringing a close to his career in cage-fighting. Munoz retires from mixed martial arts competition with a record of 14-6.
