UFC Fight Night 58 Results: Lyoto Machida Makes Quick Work of C.B. Dollaway

It didn’t take long former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida to dispatch of C.B. Dollaway in the UFC Fight Night 58 main event in Brazil on Saturday.

Machida was a step up on competition for Dollaway, who cracked the top ten rankings following his decision win over Francis Carmont in May. Machida showed that Dollaway may not be ready for the top tier talent in the middleweight division.

Dollaway tried to pressure Machida as the Brazilian circled on the outside. Dollaway moved forward, slapping with his jab. Machida, known for his lightening speed and accuracy, waited for an opening. A minute into the bout that opening came.

Machida delivered a left kick to the body of Dollaway that nearly caused the 31-year-old American to double over. Sensing the end, Machida rushed forward with punches as Dollaway curled up into a ball against the cage. Machida continued to land punches until the referee stepped in.

Machida had nothing but kind words for Dollaway following the fight. He complimented his opponent.

“He’s a very tough fighter, but the kick landed and I saw that he felt it. I went in for the finish. But he’s a very tough fighter,” he said

Ranked No. 4 in the 185-pound division, Machida showed he’s still a contender in the weight class. The 36-year-old doesn’t have any particular opponent in mind for his next fight. But he is always eyeing title fight.

“I’ll wait for the boss Dana White to choose who is next. My main objective is the belt,” said Machida.
