The Austin, Texas, "Fight Night" card is shaping up quite nicely.
Joseph Benavidez will look to keep his rhythm going when he steps back into the Octagon on Nov. 22, 2014 to face Dustin Ortiz at UFC Fight Night 57, which is set to go down in Austin, Texas, from Frank Erwin Center on the campus of University of Texas.
UFC announced the match up on Tuesday.
"Joe-Jitsu" submitted Tim Elliot earlier this year at UFC 172, earning him a "Performance of the Night" bonus. The win was his first after losing to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson, for the second time four months prior.
Ortiz, meanwhile, has gone an impressive 3-1 so far under the UFC banner, winning his previous two against Justin Scoggins and Ray Borg. His only loss came to top contender John Moraga at the beginning of the year.
The promotion also revealed that the strawweight fight between Paige VanZant and Kailin Curran, which was supposed to go down at UFC Fight Night 54 on Oct. 4, 2014 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, has been shifted over to the Austin card.
Though UFC didn't confirm it, the change likely comes after Paige revealed she had yet to be cleared to train for her bout due to a spinal injury. Something that would have prevented her from getting into fighting shape by October.
Now that she has an extra month to rehab, "12 Gauge" will finally have the chance to make a splash in her UFC debut, as will Curran.
A headlining bout for the FOX Sports 1 event has yet to be announced.
