UFC Fight Night 45 Results: Edson Barboza Bounces Back from Cerrone Loss to TKO Dunham

Edson Barboza rebounded from his loss to Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone with a first-round finish of Evan Dunham at UFC Fight Night 45 in Atlantic City on Wednesday.

Both men were cautious in the early going, but soon settled into a striking exchange. Dunham circled on the outside while Barboza took the center of the cage and looked to counter-strike. Known for his kicks, Barboza delivered one to the body that buckled Dunham. He swooped in on his wounded prey and finished with a series of right hands with Dunham unable to do anything but try to cover up.

“Feeling great. I trained so hard for this fight. I trained with the best guys in the world, the best coach. I can’t wait to step back in the cage,” said the 28-year-old following the TKO win.

“I train this kick a lot. Everybody knows my background is in Muay Thai. I wait a lot. I wait a lot, but I saw his elbow up a little bit and said, bro, I want to throw my kick because it’s a free kick,” said the Brazilian about the finish.

With the win, Barboza wants to book his next fight sooner rather than later and wants a top ten ranked opponent.

“Hopefully the UFC gives me a fight as soon as possible. Give me my top ten, top five, it doesn’t matter,” he said. “I can’t wait.”

The victory moved Barboza’s record to 8-2 inside the octagon. It was Dunham’s third loss in a row.
