UFC 197 Medical Suspensions: Jon Jones, OSP Possibly Sidelined for Six Months

Jon Jones recently returned to championship status, winning the interim version of the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 197 on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Having limped away from the Octagon and briefly used a wheelchair to get around, Jones didn’t escape the medically suspended list. He has to get his left foot x-rayed and cleared if he is to fight against prior to October.

He’s likely better off than his opponent, however, as Ovince Saint Preux suffered a broken left ulna that he must get cleared by a doctor so that he can return to fighting. If he doesn’t, he could also be sidelined until October.

The Nevada Athletic Commission released the UFC 197: Jones vs. Saint Preux medical suspensions to MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday. The event took place on Saturday, April 23, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
