UFC 190 Results: Ronda Rousey KOs Bethe Correia in 34 Seconds

Ronda Rousey took only 34 seconds to defend her women’s bantamweight title, knocking out Bethe Correia in the main event at UFC 190 in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday.

Rousey blasted away at her opponent from the opening bell, ending the contest by landing a right hand that sent Correia falling face first to the canvas.

“It kind of went as expected,” Rousey said, explaining her finish of the bout in her post-fight interview.

Rousey and Correia immediately engaged in a scrappy exchange that saw the latter fighter take a majority of the damage. After a tie-up, Correia fell to the floor and rolled back up to her feet where Rousey met her with more offense.

As Correia tried to defend punches against the fence, Rousey unloaded and landed a right hand behind the ear.

Correia fell to the floor, unconscious, and referee John McCarthy pulled Rousey away to signal an end to the bout.

Leading into the match, Rousey said she wanted to punish Correia for comments she made about suicide. Rousey’s father committed suicide when she was young, and her opponent’s comments helped fueled her desire to finish the fight.

“I hope nobody brings up my family anymore when it comes to fights,” she said. “I hope this is the last time.”

With the win, Rousey improves her undefeated record to 12-0 and will now likely meet Miesha Tate for a third time.
