UFC 190 Fighter Bonuses: Ronda Rousey Earns an Extra $50,000 for 34-Second Win

Ronda Rousey Skips Miesha Tate Trilogy, Faces Holly Holm at UFC 195

The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the winners of the $50,000 fighter bonuses stemming from UFC 190 following the event in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday. Ronda Rousey, Demian Maia, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Rogerio Nogueira took home the coveted awards.

Rousey, the women’s bantamweight champion, finished Bethe Correia in just 34 seconds in the main event to earn a Performance of the Night bonus. Correia hoped Rousey would enter into a striking exchange with her and she got her wish. Rousey pressed forward and landed a combination along the cage that hurt Correira. As the Brazilian tried to circle away, Rousey landed a right hand that left Correia face-down on the canvas.

Fight of the Night honors went to the co-main event fighters: Rua and Nogueira. It was a rematch a decade in the making. The two first met in the quarterfinal of the 2005 PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix where Rua won a unanimous decision. Ten years later, the result didn’t’ change. Rua came back from being badly hurt in the opening round to win a unanimous decision.

Demian Maia was awarded a Perforance of the Night bonus for his second round submission of Neil Magny on the Fox Sports 1 preliminary card. Maia easily secured takedowns and worked his world class jiu-jitsu game. After taking Magny down early in the second frame, Maia took Magny’s back and locked in a rear-naked choke that forced his opponent to tap out. The win snapped Magny’s seven-fight winning streak.

UFC 190: Rousey vs. Correia took place at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday in front of a sold out crowd.
