UFC 187 Weigh-in Results: Chris Weidman Blasts Vitor Belfort for ‘Still Cheating'

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Las Vegas this week for one its biggest, and perhaps most important, events of the year. UFC 187: Johnson vs. Cormier isn't just another pay-per-view event for the MMA juggernaut, it is also the event where a new light heavyweight champion will be crowned for the first time in four years.

Considered one of the most dominant fighters ever, Jon Jones was recently stripped of his championship designation after he was arrested for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident in Albuquerque, N.M.

Jones was supposed to have defended his belt against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson in the UFC 187 main event on Saturday. But after he was stripped of the belt and removed from the fight, UFC officials enlisted Daniel Cormier to square off with Johnson for the vacant strap.

The two stepped on the scale at weigh-ins on Friday to make the bout official, each of them easily hitting the mark.

“It felt amazing to get this call (to fill in for Jon Jones),” said Cormier after weighing in at 205 pounds. “I think the world of Rumble as an opponent, but at the end of the day, the truth is, Anthony Johnson is not good enough to beat me. I'm gonna be UFC light heavyweight champion tomorrow.”

Cormier's barb had little effect on Johnson, however, who said, “Honestly, Daniel is entitled to his own opinion. What's going to matter is tomorrow night. We'll all see what happens”

There's no drop off in the importance of the UFC 187 co-main event with middleweight champion Chris Weidman putting his belt on the line against Vitor Belfort in a fight that has been nearly two years in the making. They also had no issues making weight either. But this is a match-up that has rankled the champion because of Belfort's past use of testosterone replacement therapy, which is now banned..

“It's a dream. I'm living the dream. I'm just blessed and ready to win tomorrow,” said Belfort before Weidman took aim at him.

“I left him alone with this whole drug test thing, but we just found out during camp he had a (high) testosterone score. I'm ten years younger than him, and he's got a way higher testosterone level,” declared Weidman. “This guy is still cheating and I'm gonna make him pay for it tomorrow.”

One fighter on the card was grossly overweight, that being Nina Ansaroff. She weighed 120 pounds for her 115-pound bout with Rose Namajunas. Even with a 1-pound allowance for it being a non-title fight, Ansaroff was still four pounds over the limit for the strawweight fight.

Ansaroff did not weigh in again. She will instead forfeit 20-percent of her fight purse to Namajunas.
