UFC 181 Adds Urijah Faber vs. Francisco Rivera to Las Vegas Fight Card

A bantamweight fight between perennial contender Urijah Faber and Francisco Rivera has been added to the lineup for UFC 181, officials announced on Wednesday evening.

The 135-pound bout has been verbally agreed to by the fighters and is scheduled to take place on Dec. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Faber (31-7) comes into the December fight card off a submission of Alex Caceres at UFC 175 last July. Since 2012, Faber has beaten every opponent that has stood in front of him, with the exception of former bantamweight champion Renan Barao, who has two wins over Faber.

Rivera (10-3, 1 NC) is hoping to get back on the winning track with the UFC 181 fight. In his last outing, Rivera went the distance with Takeya Mizugaki, only to give up a unanimous decision.

UFC 181 is scheduled to be headlined by a welterweight title fight between champ Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler. The co-main event features the return of lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, who defends his belt against Gilbert Melendez.
