UFC 177 Heavyweight Bout Scrapped; Yancy Medeiros vs. Justin Edwards Moves to PPV

A heavyweight bout between Richard Odoms and Ruslan Magomedov has been scratched from the UFC 177 fight card slated for Aug. 30 in Sacramento, Calif.

UFC officials announced the cancellation on Monday, citing newcomer Odoms having been forced to withdraw from the fight as the reason. No detail was given as to why Odoms had to withdraw.

Instead of finding a replacement for Odoms, UFC officials stated that Magomedov would be moved to a future card, while an entirely new replacement bout was being sought for UFC 177.

Odoms vs. Magomedov was slotted in on the main card on pay-per-view. With its cancellation, a lightweight bout between Yancy Medeiros and Justin Edwards will move from the prelims onto the main card.

A bantamweight championship rematch between current champ T.J. Dillashaw and the man he took the belt from, Renan Barão, headlines the UFC 177 fight card.
