UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie Gate and Attendance

UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie took place before an announced audience of 13,873 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night.

UFC executive Marshall Zelaznik announced the attendance at the UFC 163 post-fight press conference. He did not announce estimated gate receipts.

The announced attendance was slightly above the lowest point for the promotion's four trips to HSBC Arena. UFC 142, which featured Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes, drew an estimated audience of 12,500.

Aldo also headlined UFC 163, defending his belt from Chan Sung Jung (aka the Korean Zombie).

Aldo led the way through most of the fight, was quicker to the punch, and scored several takedowns before he took advantage of an opportune moment after Jung separated his right shoulder in the fourth round. Aldo swarmed Jung and forced him to the mat, finishing him off with punches.

The victory was Aldo's seventh defense of the featherweight belt that he won in the WEC and retained when the promotion was folded into the UFC.
