MMA fans were looking forward to watching the highly anticipated bout between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar at UFC 153, but the fight between Anderson Silva and Stephan Bonnar will have to do. Here are my predictions for the entire UFC 153 fight card set for Oct. 13, at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil:
Anderson Silva vs. Stephan BonnarSilva will be a historic favorite going into this fight, but I find the odds a little misleading. Bonnar will be the bigger, rangier man during the bout, which is something Silva rarely deals with. Stephan will bring the fight to Silva, and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets "The Spider" in a few compromising positions. However, Silva is the best fighter in the history of the UFC for a reason, and he'll eventually find a way to put Bonnar away. Silva wins via TKO.
Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Dave HermanFrank Mir almost ripped Nogueira's arm off during their UFC 140 encounter, and the Brazilian will be motivated to get back on the winning side of things. Herman might be able to hold his own in the standup department against Nogueira, but I can't see him dealing with "Minotauro" on the ground. Nogueira wins via submission.
Glover Teixeira vs. Fabio MaldonadoSimply put, Teixeira is a beast, and he'll be looking to add another victory to his impressive 16-fight win-streak. On the other hand, Maldonado is currently on a two-fight losing streak against, and he'll probably be in over his head at UFC 153. Teixeira wins via submission.
Erick Silva vs. Jon Fitch
Silva is one of the most promising rising stars in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, but he'll be in for a serious test when he faces Fitch at UFC 153. However, Silva's ability to stuff takedowns and get back to his feet looked decent in his last fight against Charlie Brenneman, and I expect the Brazilian to emerge victorious. Silva wins via TKO.
Wagner Prado vs. Phil DavisThe first fight between these two only lasted 88 seconds due to an eye-poke, so they'll get to settle their difference at UFC 153. Prado was getting the better of the striking exchanges during their short encounter, and I expect him to do even better in front of his fellow Brazilians. Prado wins via KO.
Demian Maia vs. Rick StoryMaia looked awesome during his welterweight debut, and it does seem like he's found his new home. Maia typically struggles against solid wrestlers, but I don't think that'll be the case at UFC 153. Maia wins via submission.
