Former lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar, will get a chance to win back his title at UFC 150 when he faces current champ Benson Henderson for the second time. The event will be held on Aug. 11, at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo. Here are my predictions for the entire UFC 150 fight card:
Benson Henderson versus Frankie Edgar
Even though some seem to think that Henderson's decision victory against Edgar was a little controversial, "Smooth" clearly won the fight on most respectable scorecards. I don't think the rematch between the two will be any different from their UFC 144 encounter, and I expect Henderson to grind out another decision.Donald Cerrone versus Melvin Guillard
Definitely a "Fight of the Night" candidate, I expect fireworks when these two meet inside the Octagon at UFC 150. Both are dangerous strikers, but Melvin will have a slight advantage due to his power and speed. Cerrone is well-known for his entertaining standup battles, but a majority of his wins are via submission. He'll have a decent advantage if the fight goes to the canvas, but taking Guillard to the ground is no easy task. Tough fight to call, but Melvin should be able to pull off the victory if he stays composed throughout the bout. Melvin wins via decision.Jake Shields versus Ed Herman
Shields has struggled a bit recently, losing two of his last three fights. Herman on the other hand has been successful inside the Octagon lately, finishing his last three opponents. However, Shields has already faced some of the best fighters in the division, and he even has a win against current light-heavyweight number one contender, Dan Henderson. I can't see Shields having any problems against Herman, and I expect him to dominate their UFC 150 encounter. Shields wins via TKO.Yushin Okami versus Buddy Roberts
After dominating the first two rounds of his UFC 144 encounter against Tim Boetsch, Okami ran into some problems in the final round, getting knocked out by "The Barbarian." Roberts is currently on a six-fight winning streak, but I don't think he's ready for the likes of Yushin. Okami wins by TKO.Justin Lawrence versus Max Holloway
Lawrence stole the show at the "Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale," walking away with the "Fight of the Night" and "Knockout of the Night" honors. He's dropping down to the featherweight division to face Holloway at UFC 150. Both men are very entertaining strikers, but I have to give the edge to Lawrence due to his past success as a kick-boxer. The fight between the two should be quite entertaining, but I expect Lawrence to keep his undefeated record intact. Lawrence wins via KO.Undercard:
Dennis Bermudez defeats Tommy Hayden
Michael Kuiper defeats Jared Hamman
Erik Perez defeats Ken Stone
Nik Lentz defeats Eiji Mitsuoka
Dustin Pague defeats Chico Camus
