UFC 149 was the Ultimate Fighting Championship's least entertaining fight card so far in 2012, and the poor judging didn't help either. Here are the results of the entire UFC 149 fight card held on July 21, at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Canada:
Renan Barao defeats Urijah FaberBoth men came out swinging at UFC 149, but Barao was able to land the more damaging strikes. He didn't let up throughout the fight, landing everything from spinning back kicks to flying knees. All three judges gave Barao the nod, making him the UFC's interim bantamweight champion.
Tim Boetsch defeats Hector LombardLombard was pretty disappointing in his UFC debut, failing to deliver the fireworks many MMA fans anticipated. After struggling in the first round, Lombard did much better in the latter rounds, landing the cleaner, crisper shots. I personally scored the fight 29-28 in favor of Lombard, but the judges awarded Boetsch with the split decision.
Cheick Kongo defeats Shawn JordanKongo's takedown defense looked awesome at UFC 149, and he even displayed his improved wrestling skills. He kept Jordan pinned against the cage for the majority of the fight, earning himself the unanimous decision.
James Head defeats Brian EbersoleArguably the least entertaining fight of the night, neither man got much going throughout their UFC 149 encounter. However, Head was the aggressor, and it was only right he walked away with the split decision.
Matt Riddle defeats Chris ClementsAs expected, both men put on a show at UFC 149, but Riddle controlled the fight with his takedowns. In the third round, Riddle ducked under a spinning back fist, and he locked up an arm-triangle while standing. While holding on to the arm-triangle, Riddle tripped Clements to the ground. On the canvas, he applied full pressure on the choke, forcing Clements to tap out.
Nick Ring defeats Court McGee (unanimous decision - I scored the fight 29-28 McGee)
Francisco Rivera defeats Roland Delorme (KO, round one)
Ryan Jimmo defeats Anthony Perosh (KO, round one)
Bryan Caraway defeats Mitch Gagnon (rear-naked choke, round three)
Antonio Carvalho defeats Daniel Pineda (KO, round one)
Anton Kuivanen defeats Mitch Clarke (split decision)
