UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr will return for his senior season, he announced in a statement.

According to NFLDraftScout.com, Barr ranks as the No. 6 outside linebacker for the 2014 draft, though two of the players rated ahead of him (Georgia's Jarvis Jones and LSU's Barkevious Mingo) might wind up entering this year's draft.

"I have carefully explored my options and have decided to continue my football career with UCLA," Barr said in a statement. "I felt a strong connection with my teammates and coaches that I do not want to see end. I will continue to pursue my degree and take part in the team drills after the Holidays. The time will come soon enough to live my dream of playing at the next level."

Barr (6-foot-4, 238 pounds) was a running back for two years at UCLA before moving to linebacker in 2012 and earning All-Pac-12 honors. He led the team with 13.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss, both totals among the top 10 in the country in the regular season. His single-season sack total was the second best in UCLA history, and his tackles-for-loss total ranked fourth in Bruins history.

He recorded 83 tackles, the second-highest total on the team this season.

"Anthony considered his options and we are glad he has chosen to stay with his teammates to continue the mission to move Bruin football forward in the new year," coach Jim Mora said in a statement.

UCLA (9-5) lost 49-26 to Baylor in the Holiday Bowl on Thursday.
