UCLA freshman Muhammad reinstated by NCAA

The NCAA reinstated UCLA freshman Shabazz Muhammad on Friday after hearing an appeal from UCLA officials, ESPNLosAngeles.com reported.

Muhammad, a guard ranked as the nation's No. 2 high school player last season by ESPN.com and Scout.com, will be eligible to play Monday when UCLA meets Georgetown in New York.

Last week, the NCAA had ruled that Muhammad was ineligible because he had received impermissible benefits during visits to Duke and North Carolina.

He missed three games as a result of the suspension, and Muhammad's family must repay about $1,600.
