BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Darrin Reaves led UAB in rushing and picked up two touchdowns to seal a 52-28 victory against Northwestern State on Saturday.

Reaves rushed for a 50-yard TD halfway through the third quarter to make the score 45-21 in favor of the Blazers (1-2). He ended the game with 17 carries for 178 yards in UAB's first home game of the season.

Jamarcus Nelson scored his own pair of touchdowns - a 41-yard reception and a 63-yard punt return. His punt return in the first quarter gave the Blazers a 14-0 lead and Nelson finished with 123 all-purpose yards.

Garrett Atzenweiler accounted for 100 of Northwestern State's 150 total yards rushing and picked up the only two touchdowns in the first half for the Demons (2-2).
