U.S. adds Paul Millsap to pool of World Cup players

LAS VEGAS – USA Basketball added Atlanta Hawks power forward Paul Millsap to the roster on Sunday in preparation for the World Cup, a source told Yahoo Sports.

Kevin Love, Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge all recently withdrew from the roster, depriving the U.S. of three of the game's best power forwards. Millsap, whose lone USA experience includes participating the 2009 men's national team training camp, averaged 17.9 points and 8.5 rebounds with the Hawks last season.

The U.S. isn't expected to add any other players to the roster, the source said.

USA Basketball begins its training camp for the World Cup in Spain on Monday here. DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Kenneth Faried and Chandler Parsons are the other remaining big men in the pool of players.
