U.S. national team will play friendly against Ukraine

Despite reports that the U.S. national team's friendly against Ukraine has been canceled, the U.S. Soccer Federation released a statement Monday evening saying the match was still in limbo.

"We have been in contact with the Football Federation of Ukraine and are awaiting final confirmation that the team is still planning to travel to Cyprus for the match," the statement read.

The USSF added that it would provide further information when it heard back from Ukraine.

Reports earlier on Monday stated that Wednesday's friendly between the two nations in Cyprus had been called off, with Ukraine backing out due to continuing instability within the country.

The match was initially scheduled to be played in Donetsk, Ukraine, but was moved to Cyprus because of the situation in Ukraine.
