Tyreke Evans came off the bench and finished with 19 points and recorded 10 assists and 7 rebounds in an impressive all-around performance to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a victory over the Denver Nuggets, 105-89. The Pelicans took quality shots in this one, going 42-89 (47.2%) from the field, including 11-24 (45.8%) from three-point range. New Orleans (13-14) has now won back-to-back games after defeating Sacramento Kings on Monday.
Evans finished 7-17 from the field. New Orleans also got solid performances from Anthony Davis with 17 points and 7 rebounds, Jrue Holiday with 17 points and 8 assists, and Ryan Anderson with 16 points and 10 rebounds. On 7-20 shooting (3-9 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 5-6 from the free throw line, Wilson Chandler put up 22 points for Denver in the loss. He also recorded 9 rebounds. J.J. Hickson contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds, Ty Lawson finished with 14 points and 12 assists, and Jordan Hamilton put up 12 points and 7 rebounds.
In addition to 26.1% from 3-point range, the Nuggets tallied an eFG% of just 43.9%. They are 1-6 on the season when registering marks below 30% and 45%, respectively, in those statistics. The Pelicans, conversely, are undefeated (2-0) when holding the opposition to such dismal shooting numbers.
Denver (14-14) has now lost five consecutive games.
Coming up next, the Pelicans take on the Houston Rockets, who are 20-11 on the year. The Nuggets match up with the Memphis Grizzlies, currently 12-16 this season.
