Tyreke Evans earned his ninth double-double this season, scoring 22 points and registering 15 assists, to help the New Orleans Pelicans defeat the Utah Jazz, 102-95. The Pelicans were on fire, finishing 36-71 (50.7%) from the field and 24-32 (75.0%) at the free throw line. This is the fifth straight victory for New Orleans (32-40).
Evans finished 9-20 from the field and 4-7 from the free throw line. He tallied 5 rebounds and 3 steals as well. Al-Farouq Aminu also contributed for New Orleans, finishing with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Despite the loss, Gordon Hayward scored 21 points for Utah on 6-13 shooting from the field and 8-8 from the free throw line. He also added 7 assists. Derrick Favors added 18 points and 11 rebounds and Trey Burke finished with 12 points and 6 assists.
Utah (23-50) has now lost three in a row.
Coming up next, the Pelicans square off with the San Antonio Spurs, who are 56-16 on the year. The Jazz match up with the Oklahoma City Thunder, currently 53-19 this season. The Pelicans came up short against San Antonio each of the last three times they've met. The Jazz have come away with a loss in two of their last three games against Oklahoma City.
