Are you curious to know which horses people think will win the 2012 Preakness?
Today is the running of the 137th race and Twitter is alive with excitement. There are many mentions of @AllHailKegasus and #UniCarl merryment in the Pimlico Infield -- but what about the cold hard predictions about the winning horse? Hours before the race, here are the top Preakness odds the day of the event.
Preakness buzz May 19, 2012
The day of the race, the official @PreaknessStakes account tweeted, "Following Bikini contest in underway in the infield #Preakness @AllHailKegasus." Obviously, they were getting their "Preak on." On that same wavelength, @ReformedBroker says, "What makes Maryland's Preakness race so unique is that the horses are all dusted liberally with Old Bay seasoning before they take off."
On the other hand, Thoroughbred Times and Sports Illustrated had somber Preakness news that could be a real last minute game changer. As @TTimes states, "Ramon Dominguez picks up the mount on Tiger Walk for #Preakness after Kent Desormeaux reportedly failed a breathalyzer test. Per @HRTVHost."
Twitter gives Preakness 2012 odds, predictions
From pros to fans, plenty of tweets were quipping about which horse will win the Preakness this year. Like many Twitter users, @RivermontFarm says, "I hope my Derby pick "I'll Have Another" wins the #Preakness! I want to see a Triple Crown Winner!"
Alternatively, @horseracingpics tells you which horse will not be winning this year. Tweeted hours before the race, they tout, "Preakness-Why Bodemeister will not win--simple reason fatigue, 5th start in 35 days, he a great horse, but he will be tired and fade."
Twitter Preakness favorites besides I'll Have Another
Have you heard of Kegasus? He is the centaur of the Preakness Infield. This year, he is tweeting about a horse that is not as popular as I'll Have Another. @AllHailKegasus says, "Hey #DaddyNoseBest, Momma needs a new pair of shoes!"
However, my attention was drawn to horse racing picks expert @followFRANNIE. She victoriously claims, "Haha.. I picked the winner 4 years straight for the Derby... last two @BaltimoreLuke can attest - #Preakness #6 Creative Cause." Backing up FollowFrannie is @HitStudyDenPks with, "Creative Cause- Preakness winner!!"
Plain and simple Preakness 2012 odds
This year I tweeted, "I'm going with my #KYDerby choice again. C'mon Creative Cause, we can DO this! By the spirit of @AllHailKegasus, I compel thee!" Regardless, when I wanted to find the actual odds for Preakness, I was surprised that it took me almost an hour to find the official information.
After searching obvious choices like Preakness.com, I finally found the information I was looking for. The new FollowHorseRacing.com website by the American Jockey Club lists them on their homepage as follows:
Tiger Walk 30:1
Teeth of the Dog 15:1
Pretension 30:1
Zetterholm 20:1
Went the Day Well 6:1
