TUF 20 Finale Results: Tecia Torres Dominates En Route to Unanimous Decision

Tecia Torres was one of the favorites upon arriving at The Ultimate Fighter 20 with a 4-0 undefeated professional record. She stumbled twice during the season, leaving her out of the running for the inaugural UFC strawweight championship.

Her TUF 20 Finale opponent, Angela Magana, didn’t fair any better, losing her bout in the opening round of the tournament.

They met in the Octagon in Las Vegas on Saturday night, each trying to prove her worth on the UFC roster.

Torres did just that, showing why she was considered a favorite coming in to the reality show. Magana showed a lot of improvement, but wasn’t quite up to the level that Torres brought to the fight.

Torres started quick, establishing a bulldog style of darting in, unloading a flurry of punches, and then backing out again, which she maintained throughout the fight. Once she took control of the Octagon, she would not relent.

Magana tried to establish distance, countering Torres with kicks, but Torres was too quick, too accurate, and too powerful.

Although Torres was easily outstriking Magana and giving her no chance for the takedown, she couldn’t quite put her away. Torres knocked Magana to the canvas in the first round and then stunned her late in the second round and again late in the third, but Magana showed her toughness throughout and would not give in.

Earning a unanimous nod from the judges, Torres is now 5-0 as a professional (the TUF bouts on the show are considered exhibitions), while Magana drops to 11-7.
