Tristan Thompson recorded his 10th double-double this season, scoring 20 points and registering 13 rebounds, to help the Cleveland Cavaliers squeak by the Los Angeles Clippers, 88-82. Cleveland (7-13) picked up the win after falling to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.
Thompson shot 7-15 and converted 6-11 from the free throw line. Other top performers for Cleveland were Kyrie Irving with 20 points and 6 assists, Andrew Bynum with 18 points and 6 rebounds, and Jarrett Jack with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Despite the loss, Jamal Crawford scored 19 points off the bench for Los Angeles on 5-18 shooting (2-9 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 7-7 from the free throw line. DeAndre Jordan chipped in 12 points and 13 rebounds and Blake Griffin finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
In addition to 20.0% from 3-point range, the Clippers tallied an eFG% of just 36.2%. They are winless (0-2) on the season when registering marks below 30% and 45%, respectively, in those statistics. The Cavaliers, conversely, are 4-1 when holding the opposition to such dismal shooting numbers.
Los Angeles (13-8) could not get back-to-back victories after defeating Memphis on Thursday.
Coming up next, the Cavaliers play the New York Knicks, who are 5-13 on the year. The Clippers go up against the Philadelphia 76ers, currently 7-14 this season.
